Kollywood actors are gearing up to reach the silver screens with films based on Love, romance, action, comedy and real life stories in 2011. Kollywood big names like Suriya, Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, Dhanush, Jeeva, Silambarasan, Vishal and Arya are coming up with interesting line-up of releases this year. 2011 is going to be a big race between the lead stars as the year is going to see atleast three releases for each actor respectively. The race started from Pongal with Vijay’s Kaavalan and Dhanush’s Aadukalam by making it as an absolute gala affair for all film lover’s right from the first month itself.

So, let’s take a look at the new offerings of each actor waiting to thrill audiences this year.

Vijay

Kaavalan: Directed by Siddique, the film has Asin as the female lead. The tasted success in the beginning of the year and pushed back Vijay into success track.

Velayudham: Genelia and Hansika Motwani are playing the lead roles in the film. Directed by Jayam Raja and produced by V. Ravichandran under the banner of Aascar Films. Vijay Anthony is the music composer.

Nanban (3 Idiots remake): Shankar is directing the film while Ileana is pairing with Vijay. Gemini Film Circuits is producing the film. Music is by Harris Jayraj.

Other untitled projects: One with Director Seeman and two films under production of Kalai Puli and Super Good films respectively.

Suriya

Suriya the handsome hunk of Kollywood is all set to hit the screens with two films this year.

7am Arivu: Shruthi Hassan is playing the lead role. The film is directed by AR Murugadoss and Udhayanidhi Stalin is producing the film under Red Giant Movies. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the tunes.

Maatraan: Directed by KV Anand the film is likely to appear on big screens at the end of the year. The film features music by Harris Jayraj. Kalpathi S. Aghoram is making the film under the banner of AGS Entertainment.

Ajith

Mankatha: Produced by Dhyanidhi Alagiri under Cloud nine movies has Trisha and Lakshmi as female leads. Directed by Venkat Prabhu the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Billa-2: Coming under the direction of Vishnuvardhan and Anushka is likely to pair opposite Ajith. Suresh Balaji and George Pious are making the film under Wide Angle Creations.

Vikram

Deivamagan: Vijay is directing the film and Mohan Natarajan is producing it. Anushka and Amala Paul are seen in the lead roles. G. V. Prakash Kumar is giving the tunes for this film.

Ponniyin Selvan: Under the direction of Manirathnam.

Other Untitled projects: In total three films, one with director Suseendhiran, next with Dharani

Dhanush

Aadukalam: Tapsee Ponnu is the female lead while the film is directed by Vetrimaran. Kathiresan made the film and GV Prakash Kumar rendered the music.

Mappillai: Produced by Nemichand Jhabak and Hitesh Jhabak the film brings Hansika Motwani in the lead role. Suraj performed the duty as a director while Mani Sharma is scoring the tunes.

Venghai: The film is directed by Hari and produced by Bharathi Reddy under Vijaya Productions. Tammannah is playing the female lead. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the tunes.

Erandam Ulagam: Andrea Jeremiah is pairing with Dhanush and his brother Selvaraghavan is directing the film. Dhanush signed his next with director Chimbudevan.

Silambarasan

Vaanam: Krish is directing the film while Anushka is seen in the lead role. VTV Productions and Magic Box Pictures are producing the film.

Poda Podi: The film is coming under the production of Shanaya Telfilms and Gemini Film Circuit. Vignesh Shiva is directing the film while Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is making her debut.

Vettrimaran: Nelson is incharge of direction, while Nic Arts is producing the film. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music.

Valiban: Gorgeous Shruthi Hassan is pairing with Simbu in Valiban. Simbu himself is directing the film, while Nic arts is producing the film. Yuvan’s is rendering the tunes for this romantic drama.

Jeeva

KO: Karthika is sharing screen space with Jeeva and KV Anand worked as a director. Kumar Jayaraman has produced the film under RS Infotainments banner. Harris Jayraj composed the tunes.

Singam Pulli: Ramya played the female lead while Sai Ramani directed the film. Mani Sharma has given the music for this film.

Nanban (3 Idiots remake): Jeeva is working with Director Shankar and Gemini Film Circuit is producing this film. Music is by Harris Jayraj.

Vanthaan Vendraan: Jeeva pairs with Tapsee Ponnu in the film and R Kannan is directing eth film. K. S. Sreenivasan made the film under Vasan Visual Ventures.

Rowthiram: The film is coming under the banner of Jeeva’s home production Super Good films produced By R.B Chowdary. Shriya Saran played the lead role opposite Jeeva. Music is by Prakash Nikki.

Vishal

Avan Ivan: Directed by Bala, the film has Janani Iyer and Madhu Shalini in the lead roles. Kalpathi S. Agoram is making the film under AGS Entertainment banner. Yuvan has rendered the music.

Pattathu Yaanai: Directed by Boopathy Pandian, while Devi Sri Prasad is going render the tunes. Other details are yet to be finalized.

Untitled projects: One with Prabhu Deva and other with Sooraj.

Arya

Vettai: Lingusamy will be directing the film and Dhayanidhi Alagiri is making the film under Cloud Nine movies.  Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul are the female leads.

Well, having a look at the list of the films of the actors it’s quite difficult to give up a decision on who will lead 2011. The race is going to be tough this year as every actor is coming up with up films based on good subject but it is only audiences who decide the end result. Finally it can’t be judged on the number of films releasing or the star status or high expectations as many films based on the same points have failed at the box office last year. The main things to be considered are unique story and good presentation will lead any star towards the steps of success.

But if given a chance everyone will give their vote to their favourite actors.
