Kollywood has given chance to many playback singers to prove their mettle, which has become the latest passion of star actors to give vocals for the songs being picturised on them.
As way2movies reported viewers earlier, Chiyaan Vikram has given his vocals for many of his films, after which we hear about Siddharth, Simbu and recently National award winner Dhanush has joined the league with award winning chartbuster ‘Why this kolaveri di..’ latest we hear is Ilayathalapathy Vijay, who has crooned a party number for his Thuppakki, last but not least to join this rein is upcoming actors Arun Vijay and Vimal.
Apart from acting, Vikram had win credits as a playback singer for many films starting from a pop album titled Kadhalism in 2000, following with ‘O Podu’ track in Gemini that has music by Bharathwaj in 2002. After a long break again in 2009 Devi Sri Prasad has given four tracks for Kanthaswamy in Vikram’s voice, which was appreciated by everyone and followed same for its Telugu version Mallana. Later Chiyaan lend his vocals for Meghame song from G.V.Prakash composed Madrasapattinam. Further Vikram’s vocals were heard in the songs of his Deiva Thirumagal, sung for his role as well as for a six year old for the tunes composed by G.V.Prakash. Vikram’s latest song is ‘Laddu Laddu’ from his last release Rajapattai composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
As we all know STR is multi-talented, besides acting he is also a director, composer, scriptwriter, lyricist and a Playback singer. Silambarasan is busy with his latest non-filmy album ‘Love Anthem’ for world peace. The Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa actor, who has crooned his first song for Sonnal Thaan Kaadhala, has so far given nearly 40 songs in his vocals and lately Simbu has penned the lyrics for his Love Anthem using 96 different languages and almost done with its recording that is scored and crooned by him.
Following the star turn playback singer reign, here comes Siddharth. The Boy’s fame has started his screenplay and singing career with his second Telugu movie Chukkallo Chandrudu, following with Bommarillu, Aata, Jayam Ravi starrer Santosh Subramaniam till his latest release Kadhalil Sodhapuvathu Eppadi. Siddharth has given his vocals for atleast one track in his every film.
Latest to join the group is National award winner Dhanush who acquired universal fame with his first track ‘kolaveri di’ written and sung by him, also released a Sachin album and dedicated it to our master blaster. Ilayathalapathy Vijay has taken up the challenge and crooned a party number in the composition of Harris Jayraj for his forthcoming film Thuppakki.
Arun Vijay and Vimal has joined the association just. While Arjun Vijay sung along with veteran singer L R Easwari in SS Thaman composition for his upcoming flick Thadayara Thakka, Vimal has given his vocals for a track in Masala Cafe composed by Vijay Ebenezer.
