Directed by Bharatbala, "Mariyaan" features Dhanush in the lead role. It narrates the story about the will to survive of a fisherman held captive.

Buoyed by the response he received for the trailer, Bharatbala posted on his Twitter page: "Ashutosh Gowariker on trailer: My god, it's both enthralling and exhilarating. Outstanding! Superb! (I) already feel it's going to be a hit".

"Shekhar Kapur on trailer: Bala, it's very exciting and great visually. Congratulations. Shekhar," he further posted.

Filmmaker Deepa Mehta told him that she is eagerly waiting for the film.

"Deepa Mehta on trailer: (It) absolutely rocks, intriguing, visually stunning (and) with a score to die for. Really whets the appetite for the film. Can't wait," posted Bharatbala on his Twitter page.

Set against the backdrop of Kanyakumari and Sudan, the film also features Parvathi Menon, Appukutty, Salim Kumar and Jagan. It has music by Oscar-winning composer A.R Rahman.

Produced by Venu Ravichandran, "Mariyaan" is slated to release May 31.

"She (Andrea) is one of the finest actresses I have come across. But seldom do we see her in a role that does justice to her potential. I decided to make the best use of her potential and that's why I chose her for my film," Ram said.

Refusing to divulge details about the looks, he said: "I want her looks to be kept a secret until we reveal it. But, what I can assure you is that it will definitely bring out the best in her as an actress."

Andrea, who is also a popular southern singer, was last seen in Kamal Haasan's controversial multi-lingual thriller "Vishwaroopam". She played one of the teammates of Haasan, who played a secret spy in the film.

In Telugu cinema, she was recently seen opposite actor Sunil Varma in "Tadakha", which is the Telugu remake of "Vettai".

Andrea made her acting debut in Tamil romantic-drama "Kandha Naal Mudhal" in 2005. In the same year, she debuted as a singer with the song "Kannum Kannum Nokia" from Tamil thriller "Anniyan".

What kind of a film is this?

"It's a love story akin to the mood of the current generation. This time I have decided to deal with a lighter subject than my previous films. I'm currently zeroing in on the male lead and the rest of the cast. We will begin shooting soon," he added.

Known for his path-breaking Tamil directorial debut "Kattradhu Tamizh", Ram is currently busy wrapping up his second Tamil film "Thanga Meengal".

SR Prabhakaran who earlier made Sundarapandian is directing the film on Red Giant Films. Harris Jayaraj is zeroed in to provide musical scores for the movie. While Nayanatara is playing the role of Pavithra, girl-next-door role, Udhayanidhi will be seen as Kathirvelan, happy go lucky guy.

The film has an impressive cast of Arya, Nayanthara, Rana Dagubbati and now, Tapsee has been roped in to play a prominent role. The actress is glad being part of this big-budget movie and has been sharing pics with her followers on microblogging page. The climax scenes are being canned and the lead casts are taking part in the action packed climax sequences.

AM Ratnam is producing the stylish action entertainer on Sri Surya Movies with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing the tunes.

Sakthi Saravanan is the cinematographer for the film and Yuvan Shankar Raja is providing the musical scores. Biriyani is 100^th film of Yuvan.

Casting Hansika, Ramki and Premgi Amaren in the other lead roles, Biriyani movie is being produced by Studio Green Productions. The film is touted to be a commercial entertainer with ample comedy. The film has reached the final leg of production with shooting schedules nearing completion.

G Dhananjayan of UTV confirmed the release date on social networking site informing, “We confirm that TVSK will be releasing on 14th June, subject to clearing the censors by next week. It is a total romantic comedy entertainer from Sundar C and will hit the screens across the globe on 14th June. The release count down has begun.”

“As of now with no formal announcements/confirmation of release date from others, TVSK will be a solo release on 14th June,” Dhananjayan further tweeted.

Casting Santhanam and Ganesh Venkatraman in the prominent roles Theeya Velai Seiyyanum Kumaru made on UTV Motion Pictures will simultaneously be released in Telugu with Something Something title. Satya is the music director of TVSK.

The two had earlier joined hands for music videos "Vande Mataram", "Jana Gana Mana" and the 2010 Commonwealth Games anthem "Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto".

"I don't know Rahman as a great musician, but as a very close friend with whom I always enjoy working. It's the years of friendship between us that has resulted in great work every time we have collaborated on a project," Bharatbala said.

"It's because of our friendship and the fact that we trust each other so much that Rahman agreed to work for the film without even listening to the script," he added.

Rahman has not only composed music for "Mariyaan" but has also penned the lyrics and crooned for the film.

"Most of us contributed to the lyrics in the film, including Dhanush. Rahman did too as I insisted because I felt it was important to make use of his expertise," he said.

Rahman collaborated with Revathi and penned the songs "Nenjae Ezhu" and "Enga Pona Raasaa" in "Mariyaan".

Are you not comfortable working with other composers?

"That's not true. I worked with London-based composer Nitin Sawhney for my debut film 'Hari Om' because the project needed international sensibilities. Nitin is an international composer and I believed his music would be apt for the film," Bharatbala said.

Dhanush and Parvathi Menon play the lead in the film, produced by Venu Ravichandran. The film is slated to release May 31.

Bharatbala says music breathes life into "Mariyaan".

"Music serves as a narrative in the film. It will elevate the film to greater heights and prove that how music can also be used as an effective tool to narrate," he added.

The film's music, which released recently, has already generated quite a buzz in the industry.

"We will release the teaser online today (Thursday) at 5 p.m. Initially, we had plans to have an official launch, but we scrapped the idea later," a source from the film's unit said.

"Singam 2" is directed by Hari Gopalakrishnan, who had also helmed the superhit prequel "Singam", which also featured Suriya.

The sequel also features Anushka Shetty, Hansika Motwani, Vivek, Santhanam, Radha Ravi, Vijay Kumar, Nassar, Lakshmi, Srinivasan and Anjali.

This will be Suriya's fourth film with director Hari. They have previously collaborated for films "Aaru" and "Vel" besides "Singam".

"Singam 2" is produced by Prince Pictures and has music by Devi Sri Prasad. It is scheduled to release June 14.

Filmmakers have undergone a different approach for promoting Raja Rani. The teaser was launched on May 12th at Vijay awards ceremony in Chennai. The 42 seconds teaser is getting a good response and trending with more than 5 lakh views in less than 4 days.

Raja Rani also casts Sathyaraj and Santhanam are in supporting roles. George. C. Williams is handling cinematography and Raja Rani is produced under Murugadoss Productions.

Karthi is in desperate need of a hit after back to back failures of Sakuni and Alex Pandian. There is a huge buzz stating Karthi as the main lead in director Hari’s next project after completing Singam 2. Nayantara may play the female lead and an official announcement on this film is awaited.
